POSITION: A probationary tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor is available in the Department of Kinesiology. The department seeks a dynamic candidate with expertise in Physical Education who is committed to teaching excellence and to maintaining an active program involving undergraduate students. This appointment carries an initial two-year probationary appointment beginning with the 2019/2020 academic year with a start date of August 26, 2019.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate in Physical Education or related area by August 26, 2019 (ABD applicants may be considered but must complete the terminal degree by the start date).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Evidence of successful university teaching and ability to teach courses in Physical Education, possess 3 or more years of teaching and/or supervising within the public school physical education setting, and demonstrate an ability to model effective teaching practices. The candidate must also show evidence of potential for scholarly productivity and a commitment to student/faculty research. In addition, the ability to utilize research and classroom technology, demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness, and familiarity with edTPA program assessment and/or other licensure program accreditation processes are preferred. For candidates at the Associate Professor rank, a minimum of 5 years college teaching experience at the rank of Assistant Professor, an excellent record of university teaching, service and research (e.g., publications and presentations), including acquiring extramural funding, would be suitable for appointment at this rank.
DUTIES: Teach undergraduate early childhood, elementary, and secondary method courses in the teacher education program pertaining to physical education, adapted physical education, and/or health education; supervise undergraduate practicum and internship experiences in K- 12 school placements; provide service to the University, College, Department, profession, and community; participate in research and scholarly activities; and, provide academic advising to students as assigned.
DEPARTMENT: The Department of Kinesiology consists of 10 faculty and instructional academic staff and approximately 700 majors and minors. Department faculty are dedicated to teaching and student learning and are actively engaged in student-faculty research. The Department is also recognized for community outreach programs that offer health and physical activity opportunities for individuals living in the Eau Claire area. In addition, the Department is affiliated with the Institute for Health Sciences at UW-Eau Claire, which supports the advancement and visibility of pre-professional and professional health science programs.
