Position Summary: The Research Associate in Veterinary Medicine will provide veterinary care and colony management to a wide variety of laboratory animals in fourteen animal facilities. Provides veterinary oversight of the Division's Experimental Surgery Laboratory and post-operative animal care; conducts research in laboratory animal medicine and/or comparative medicine; and provides instruction in the care and use of laboratory animals to researchers, Division staff, etc. This position is a veterinary residency in Laboratory Animal Medicine.

Education Requirements: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM / VMD) degree from an AVMA accredited college of veterinary medicine or completion of ECFVG certification program (Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduate) and be licensed or eligible for licensure in at least one US state by time of hire.

Qualification and Experience: Previous experience with laboratory animals and/or research experience and ability to obtain veterinary license in at least one US state by time of hire. Preference given to applicants with NC state veterinary license or applicants able to acquire NC license shortly after starting employment.
