Job Summary and Requirements: Tenure-track position in Music: The Department of Music is seeking an active scholar/conductor to direct the University Choirs and teach related courses starting August 2019. The ideal candidate will be an active scholar whose academic interests and abilities will broaden and/or deepen current departmental strengths. Candidates with an earned doctorate and college teaching experience, or with equivalent professional experience, preferred. Duties include directing the Denison University Chamber Singers, Denison University Concert Choir, and teaching other courses related to the successful candidate's performance and scholarly interests. Options for courses may include, but are not limited to: studio performance, conducting pedagogy, theory and aural skills, musicology and ethnomusicology, writing and research methods, or interdisciplinary courses that contribute to the University's liberal arts mission. Applicants should submit a letter of application that addresses their perspective on conducting and teaching in a liberal arts environment and how they will engage with or foster diversity on campus. In addition, please submit a CV; 3-4 links to performance and rehearsal videos (for a total of 20 minutes maximum, including at least 1 rehearsal video showing an uninterrupted rehearsal segment of a choral group of at least 5 minutes); copies of academic transcripts; and three letters of reference. The department of music enrolls over 500 students every semester and sponsors over 20 vocal and instrumental ensembles including representing musical styles ranging from Western Classical, Jazz, Gospel, World Music, and Bluegrass.
