Posting Information: Please note that the expected begin work date for this position will be in January 2019. The Intensive English Program (IEP) at Western Carolina University is seeking an innovative IEP Academic Coordinator and Instructor, committed to improving student learning and program development. This individual provides programmatic and administrative leadership, including but not limited to: oversight of teaching personnel, curriculum development, assessment, and strategic planning for the program. As a staff member in the Office of International Programs and Services, the IEP Academic Coordinator and Instructor reports to the Director of International Programs and Services. 1. Teaching - 50% * Teach IEP courses up to 10 hours per week on average (including summer) 2. Academic Coordination - 50% * Manage IEP teaching personnel, including but not limited to: instructor selection, training, mentoring, performance evaluation, and professional development * Manage program assessment and course evaluation * Enhance curricular design and academic-focused programming * Develop and evaluate instructional approaches and procedures * Review and make decision on student replacement and advancement * Develop and carry out IEP student orientation * Prepare IEP class schedule * Oversee student disciplinary matters and academic probation cases * Develop IEP policies and procedures * Identify opportunities to expand and enhance the IEP program * Identify opportunities for customized short-term programs * Develop curriculum for short-term programs * Facilitate accreditation processes and self-studies 3. Other duties as assigned

Minimum Training & Experience Requirements: * MA in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, English, or closely related field. * Two or more years of experience teaching at a university-based Intensive English program * Minimum of one year of administrative and supervisory experience in IEP program administration * Extensive experience with ESL assessment and curriculum development * Strategic planning and project management ability * Strong personal, public relations and communication skills * International experience and demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion * Native-like proficiency in English

Preferred Qualifications: * Doctorate in TESOL, Second Language Acquisition of a closely related filed * Experience with IEP accreditation * Professional experience of international student recruitment * Competency in at least one language other than English
