Supervisory Responsibilities:

English Basic Skills (EBS) classes are designed for students who possess basic proficiency in English. Emphasis is placed on basic grammar, literacy, pronunciation and listening, life skills, and civics. Some classes are multi-level, while others are targeted toward specific proficiency levels. EBS classes are offered at the Glen Burnie and Arundel Mills campuses of AACC, as well as in community centers, libraries, and elementary schools around Anne Arundel county. Instruction is based on student needs, levels, and the Core ESL Content Standards of the Maryland State Department of Education.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in any field, Education/TESOL preferred.
1-year experience ESL-teaching or tutoring preferred.
Experience working with populations from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
Availability to commit to at least two evenings per week (highest priority), at least two weekday mornings per week, or Saturday mornings.
Availability to teach in one of the following locations: Glen Burnie, Annapolis, Brooklyn Park, Laurel, Shady Side.
Knowledge of a foreign language (Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, French, Korean, etc.) a plus.
