Salary range: $2,923- $5,129 per month (anticipated hiring range: $2,923 - $3,070 per month)

Note: This is a full-time (40 hours per week), probationary, non-exempt position

Organizational Description:

University Advancement ensures that a strong and consistent brand inspires and deepens the University's bond with the public it serves. As such, it advances the brand objectives (and ultimately those of the University's Strategic Plan) by executing on best marketing and communications practices. The Digital Marketing Writer supports the University Brand Strategy and Marketing team to achieve the mission of the division to inspire and increase philanthropy for Fresno State.

Overview:

Under the general supervision of the Director of Brand Strategy and Marketing, the Digital Marketing Writer (Public Affairs/ Specialist I) will support the overall marketing operations by researching, writing, coordinating and executing digital materials that elevate brand awareness for the University. The incumbent will lead the ongoing coordination of digital touch points, including email marketing, social media adverstising and website updates. The Digital Marketing Writer is involved directly in writing and editing a variety of electronically-based communication materials. This position manages assignments and allocates time to duties mentioned below based upon direction from the Director of Brand Strategy and Marketing, and the Marketing Strategist.

Position Summary:

	
  • Write and edit digital marketing materials for brand campaigns as well as electronic philanthropic campaigns
  • 	
  • Write and coordinate e-newsletters, event announcements and social media content as they relate to marketing campaigns for the institution
  • 	
  • In conjunction with the Director of Brand Strategy and Marketing and Marketing Strategist, coordinate and execute digital marketing campaigns, including e-communications, digital advertising and social media advertising
  • 	
  • Assist with internal and external marketing research and analysis
  • 	
  • Manage a digital e-newsletter/email marketing calendar, and develop, coordinate and schedule e-newsletters/email campaigns across campus
  • 	
  • Work with the Marketing Strategist in collecting and analyzing data on our collective digital marketing efforts to help develop overall marketing strategies
  • 	
  • Communicate with internal departments and external organizations to gather content, track projects and ensure deadlines are met
  • 	
  • Support the Marketing Strategist in writing and editing fundraising materials
  • 	
  • Support the Director of Brand Strategy and Marketing by assembling quotations, proposals, videos, slide shows, and demonstrations about Fresno State entities
  • Secondary Duties of the job include:

    	
  • Assist other University Advancement departments with writing projects, as needed
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    	
  • Foundation knowledge of general practices, methods and procedures related to public affairs, media relations, marketing, and/or sports information
  • 	
  • Working knowledge of protocols and institutional etiquette related to public and media relations
  • 	
  • Working knowledge of summary statistics as they relate to research or sports information
  • 	
  • Working knowledge of applicable software packages
  • 	
  • Knowledge of basic web communication techniques, vehicles and formats
  • 	
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of media outlets including print, television, and radio
  • 	
  • Basic knowledge of market research and related techniques
  • 	
  • Basic knowledge of applicable copyright and other laws pertaining to written materials, news media and confidentiality
  • 	
  • Strong writing and editing skills to quickly produce clear and concise standard documents for internal and external publication
  • 	
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships within the university and community
  • Ability to:

    	
  • Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Education and Experience:

    	Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Psychology, Journalism, English or job-related field	Two years hands-on digital marketing experience in internship or professional position	A history of regular attendance and positive performance appraisalsSpecialized Skills:

    	
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • 	
  • Knowledge Adobe Suite products
  • 	
  • Knowledge and experience with the Associated Press style
  • Preferred Skills:

    	Experience with iModules, and other e-communications software	Experience with Ellucian Advance database software	Knowledge of SEO, social media marketing and digital marketing tactics	Knowledge of social media and digital communications techniques, analysis, platforms and current best practices	Knowledge of the latest communication methods that span beyond traditional mediums	Knowledge and understanding of the role of communications and marketing in development/fundraising	Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage many tasks simultaneously	Critical thinking skills to synthesize data and identify insights	A willingness to take on responsibilities and challengesAbility to:
