Description

Reporting jointly to the Vice President and Director, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing key initiatives for the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The Program Coordinator will provide logistic, programmatic and operational support for the Center for Equity and Inclusion and Black Lives Matter at Pratt, and will also support efforts to engage alumni and community partners. Must have availability to work occasional evenings and weekends to support events on the Pratt Brooklyn and Manhattan campuses as needed.

Job Duties:

  • Develops and executes programs and events for the Center for Equity and Inclusion (CEI) including Affinity/Heritage Months, Community Dialogues, keynote speakers, etc.

  • Supports execution of the Diversity Advocates training program.

  • Develops and distributes CEI Newsletter, and manages updates to CEI website and social media accounts.

  • Supports management of CEI student workers and advising of identity based student groups.

  • Coordinates and supports monthly Black Lives Matter (BLM) meetings and related events.

  • Plans and executes the BLM Teach-In conference with campus and community partners.

  • Manages BLM budget and processes expenses.

  • Partners with the Black Alumni of Pratt to support engagement of Black and Latinx students and alumni.

  • Partners with the Pratt Center for Community Development and Student Involvement to support community service and civic engagement initiatives.

  • Conducts research on diversity, equity and inclusion best practices, and potential community partners, research grants, and corporate engagement opportunities.

  • Promotes campus and community events to internal and external partners via email, websites and social media.

  • Manages special projects and performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.

Experience: Three to five years of experience in diversity, equity and inclusion, student affairs, social justice, project and program management, marketing and communications, budgeting and financials; higher education background preferred.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, interpersonal.
  • Strong strategic problem solving ability and attention to detail.
  • Advanced organizational, analytical, research, and project management skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, set priorities, take initiative and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and social media.
