Assistant Professor of Theology
Marian University-Indianapolis, is a Catholic, comprehensive, regional institution of higher education dedicated to excellent teaching and learning in the Franciscan and liberal arts traditions and offers a multitude of undergraduate, graduate and professional programs. Marian University has experienced significant growth over the last decade and is expanding its academic offerings. The Department of Theology and Philosophy seeks qualified applicants for the position of full-time, tenure-track faculty member in Theology. Area of specialization is open, but candidates should be able to assist the department in one or more of the following areas: systematic theology, moral theology, or Old Testament. Candidates should possess the ability to engage both traditional undergraduates and graduate students in a professional pastoral ministry degree program. This position reports to the Chair of the Department of Theology and Philosophy, situated within Marian’s College of Arts and Sciences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teaching load: 4/4, with course release for graduate teaching as needed
- Contribution to a wide array of teaching outlets, including the general education curriculum, undergraduate major curriculum, undergraduate seminary, and graduate program in pastoral ministry
- Sharing in the ongoing development and implementation of our projects within the department, especially our growing programs in pastorally attentive theology
- Collaboration and coordination with the Director of the Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry
- University service, including participation on faculty committees
- Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of Marian University
- A completed Ph.D. in theology or equivalent degree by date of hire
- Capacity for effective teaching
- Potential for ongoing research, publication, and activity in professional associations
