The Communication department is home to numerous faculty and staff members dedicated to providing students with engaging and meaningful classes. We offer Audio/Radio, Communication Studies, Journalism, Media Management, Public Relations, and Video Production at the undergraduate level.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Reporting to the Chair, the successful candidate will:


  • Be aware of contemporary trends in radio and sound design and have working knowledge of both analog and digital processes, especially sound design and post production mixing for digital cinema/television/web on current advanced digital production platforms such as Pro-tools, Audition, etc. Teach courses such as introductory, intermediate and advanced audio production, digital audio production and others, depending on departmental needs. The position would mainly serve the Audio/Radio major, however, the candidate would also teach Rhetoric of Vision & Sound, which is required for Audio/Radio and Video Production majors, an elective for the Public Relations and Media Management majors and part of the general education program. Opportunity to create new courses based on expertise. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in such service activities as curriculum development, online course development, student recruitment and advising, program assessment, project development, program leadership, and committee leadership;
  • Contribute to curriculum development and refinement;
  • Provide academic advisement to students;
  • Participate in committees and provide service to the department, college, university, and profession;
  • Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.


Requirements:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Audio/Radio production and/or Sound Design or related field by September 1, 2019, with two (2) or more years of successful professional experience in Audio/Radio production and/or sound design.
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and constituents in support of campus and department mission;

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • PhD or MFA in Audio/Radio production or Sound Design or a related field by September 1, 2019;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in teaching at the college level or its equivalent
  • Two (2) or more years of successful professional experience in the Audio/Radio or Sound Design industry is highly desirable;
  • Experience in advising student media entities;
  • Experience with instructional technology;
  • Interest in, and commitment to, community engagement.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the university, division, and profession.

This is a full-time, term appointed, tenure track position beginning September 1, 2019.
