The Department of Music at Moravian College seeks a faculty member to lead its K-12 music education program and liaise with the education department. Housed in 18th century historic structures, the Moravian College Music Department is a vital and integral part of the educational and cultural environment of Moravian College and the greater Lehigh Valley. The department offers outstanding, comprehensive, and personalized degree programs in music integrated with liberal arts studies. The successful candidate should be a student-centered faculty member who will support diversity, inclusion, and a liberal arts mission. We welcome any research specialization and would especially encourage applications from scholars who are also committed to progressive pedagogy.
Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses in music education, as well as courses within the music department or general college curriculum that align with the candidate’s area(s) of expertise. Other responsibilities include working with the education department to organize and supervise student teaching placements, including weekly off-site visits; mentoring and advising students; recruitment and retention; and program and curriculum development.
The candidate for this position must have a doctorate in Music Education; ABD considered. The successful candidate will have at least three years of K-12 teaching experience. Candidates with college teaching experience are preferred.
