Assistant Professor of Sociology - Tenure-Track
Job Description: Loyola University Chicago, College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Sociology invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position, beginning Fall 2019, at the rank of Assistant Professor with expertise in urban sociology whose substantive interests contribute to areas of department need, such as environmental sociology, race, or religion with a methodological specialty in ethnography. Teaching responsibilities shall include courses in the undergraduate core curriculum, courses for sociology majors, and graduate courses. Candidates for the position must clearly demonstrate the potential for excellence in research and teaching and have a record of (or clear potential for) distinguished scholarship, grant-funded research, and student mentorship.
Qualifications: The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. by the time of the appointment, a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at all levels, and a substantial research agenda. Along with the primary expertise noted above, preference will be shown to candidates who can teach undergraduate courses and mentor both undergraduate and graduate students.
