AV/IT Support Technician

Under close supervision of the IT Service Manager, the employee provides audio/visual and computer support for Applied Innovation (AI) events and various technology-enabled users. Duties include performing first and second level in-field support of all AI staff, including technical and instructional assistance. Incumbent performs programming and/or systems analysis tasks for routine application programs. Incumbents may assist in programming and analysis of systems in a trainee capacity. Duties are largely focused on providing audio/visual support during events.

This includes setup of presentations/videos, camera recording, microphone setup, managing and switching between multiple computers, and any other technical support that an event may require. Employees must be comfortable with working independently and handling technical problems using well-developed guidelines. Other duties include assisting users with general desktop support issues, routine computer troubleshooting, moving computer equipment, and installing computer software/hardware. Employees will also be responsible for routine checkups of the AV installations, making sure all equipment is functional and organized.

This position will also be performing routine and emergency maintenance, troubleshooting and first level diagnostics for all AI hardware and user systems and providing other clerical or technical support assigned by supervisors.

Incumbent must function effectively as a member of the IT work group as well as under close supervision of the IT Services Manager following established policies and procedures. Incumbent will meet regularly with the IT Services Manager regarding outstanding issues, courses of action, the execution and delivery of services, and that operating goals meet departmental standards.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
Total Hours: 8-5, M-F
Although this position's schedule is M-F and during traditional work hours, weekends or non-traditional work hours are often required for special projects or busy times of the year, or when strict deadlines must be met.

Contract Position. This is a one year contract appointment position with the possibility of additional year contract appointment extensions. Per the University of California (UC) recruitment policy, because this position has undergone competitive recruitment, this position can be converted to career status any time after hire, as conversion meets criteria set by UC recruitment policy and the needs of the Applied Innovation department.
