The Department of Elementary and Special Education in the College of Education invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Professor of Elementary Education. This position is located on the Statesboro campus, but may require teaching on the other campuses.

Within this setting, the College of Education offers undergraduate and graduate programs to prepare students for work in public education, community agencies, and higher education. The Department of Elementary and Special Education is committed to preparing educators who work collaboratively with public school partners, who are dedicated to preparing teacher candidates to work effectively with diverse populations of students, who prepare teacher candidates to be reflective educators, and who use current research to inform their educational practices. The College of Education is accredited by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
Position Description. Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Elementary and Special Education, the Assistant Professor of Elementary Education is expected to teach language arts methods courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and other elementary education courses based on the needs of the department; supervise and assist with field experiences; collaborate with faculty across the College of Education; serve as a member of Ed.S. and Ed.D. committees; and perform service to the department, college, University, and professional communities. Additional responsibilities include maintaining an active research agenda, including regular publications, professional presentations, and external grant proposals; modeling effective teaching practices; and using instructional technology, including internet course delivery software. If qualified, the Assistant Professor of Elementary Education may also be asked to teach social studies methods at the undergraduate or graduate levels as needed. The position is a 10-month, tenure-track appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
