The Department of Dermatology has two openings at their Boulder Clinic, one full-time and one part-time, University Staff (unclassified) Medical Assistant/LPN (Health Care Technician II) position.

Nature of Work:
The University of Colorado | Anschutz Medical Campus is currently seeking applications for two experienced Medical Assistant/Licensed Practical Nurse (MA/LPN). This is a University Staff (non-classified) position will be responsible for supporting the CU Dermatology Clinic located in Boulder, Colorado. This MA/LPN will assist with patient care by executing duties including, but not limited to: rooming patients for providers; cleaning and preparing exam rooms; taking vitals; providing basic patient monitoring, counseling and education; assisting with photography; and preparing patients for skins assessments and minimally invasive surgical procedures. The position will be assisting physicians in all clean and sterile procedures. The MA/LPN will also be responsible for triaging phone calls, cleaning equipment; following up on inquires and with patients, creating community contacts, and monitoring inventory control and disposals.

Examples of Work Performed:
  • Provides basic patient monitoring, counseling and education.
  • Takes patient vitals.
  • Rooms patients for providers; cleans and prepares exam rooms.
  • Prepares patients for skin assessments and minimally invasive surgical procedures; assists with photography related to patient assessment and treatment.
  • Assist physicians in all clean and sterile procedures.
  • Answers inquires and triages phone calls to the appropriate personnel.
  • Cleans equipment.
  • Follows up with patient inquires.
  • Creates community contacts.
  • Monitors inventory control and disposals.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable

The hiring salary for this position is commemorate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for overtime.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Completed an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Medical Assistant (MA) program.
  • One (1) year of experience working in a medical/clinic setting.

  • Work in an environment that may expose you to fumes, chemicals, liquid nitrogen, extreme cold, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
  • Frequently wash your hands, as biohazardous materials may be present.
  • Sit and stand for long periods of time, frequently walk, and bend/stoop, as well as execute repetitive motions.
  • Work with complex and sharp laboratory equipment, and various chemical and biological solutions.
  • Wear appropriate safety equipment when handling biological samples and hazardous chemicals.
  • Work within a high-level secured facility.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional experience working in a Dermatology Clinic.
  • Experience setting up sterile and non-sterile procedure trays and medical procedure rooms.
  • Experience with medical/clinical inventory control and disposal.
  • Experience answering phones and triaging inquiries.
