Posting Summary:
The Department of Neuroscience at the University of Virginia is seeking candidates for a tenure-ineligible Research Assistant Professor to work in the lab of Dr. Jonathan Kipnis. This position will concentrate on developing and applying state-of-the-art molecular tools to study neuronal circuitry. The selected candidate will design his/her own projects in conjunction with the PI and collaborate with other scientists in the lab.

As a member of the Department of Neuroscience, the candidate is expected to interact with other faculty members and participate in departmental activities. The selected candidate will also be expected to formulate an independent project, which will result in publication in peer reviewed journals, and subsequently, submit grants for individual funding.

Candidates must have a PhD in Neuroscience or a related field with extensive expertise in electrophysiology, imaging, animal behavior, molecular biology and/or system neuroscience. Knowledge of immunology and glia biology is an advantage but is not required. A substantial publication record is expected. A strong expertise in genetics and cutting-edge technologies of genome editing will be beneficial to success in this role.
