I. JOB OVERVIEW
The Applications Administrator position is a member of the Information Technology team within the Division of Operations at The George Washington University.
The mission of the Information Technology Team is to improve the experience of our customers through the effective and innovative utilization of technology.
The Applications Administrator is expected to balance multiple projects simultaneously, serve as the technical lead on complex cross functional projects, move through the project management life cycle, provide skilled and creative business process solutions, perform daily system monitoring and maintenance and develop and maintain the reporting and dashboard infrastructure for software/hardware applications used by the division.
The Applications Administrator performs job duties at the Foggy Bottom Campus during regular business hours, although after hours work will be required to support system upgrades and changes. Reporting to the Director, Information Technology this position will provide technology solutions that enhance efficiency and customer service. Solutions currently implemented include AiM by Assetworks, UNIFI by T2 Systems, Vijeo Citec by Schneider Electric, Metasys by Johnson Controls, and APOGEE by Siemens.
The primary functions of the Applications Administrator:
*Serves as technical lead to collaborate with business line stakeholders to solve business problems and enhance automation, efficiency and customer service. Defines and enables best practices at the Division's use of business applications.
*Works closely with software/hardware vendors and internal information technology staff to troubleshoot issues, test new software and hardware. Leads and participates in efforts to implement application updates to include upgrades, patches, and new releases.
*In partnership with others, develop and maintain the reporting and dashboard infrastructure for applications used by the Division.
*Performs application and database administration for the Operations Division Asset Management system and affiliated systems. This includes, but is not limited to working closely with software/hardware vendors and internal IT staff to troubleshoot issues, and test new software and hardware.
*Creates documentation and provides training for end-users.
*Performs daily monitoring and maintenance activities. Assists in day-to-day operations of the Division of Operations.
*Performs project management function when necessary. Develops long range plans and tracks/reports status of assigned projects/tasks.
*Maintains knowledge of technology through self-directed and external learning opportunities.
*Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
