Job Description Summary:

The George Washington University's (GWU) Engineering Management and Systems Engineering (EMSE) programs are some of the largest and longest-running in the United States. They are a proud and ongoing part of the university's 130 year history of innovation in engineering. The EMSE online and off-campus programs are recognized internationally as providing invaluable, relevant knowledge in the areas employers demand most, which helps educate engineers who can lead effectively and think broadly in the workplace.
EMSE Department is searching for a Program Associate, EMSE-OOCP who will oversee all aspects of the doctoral program from marketing to graduation. This position reports directly to the Director of the Department of Engineering Management and Systems Engineering Online and Off-Campus Programs Office (EMSE-OOCP) and is located in Irvine, California.

The key responsibilities include:

Coordinates all aspects of EMSE-OOCP's doctoral programs from marketing to graduation, including processing student admissions, doctoral defenses, and graduations; setting up classroom logistics and scheduling courses; monitoring enrollments; setting up, attending, and serving as note-taker for all doctoral advising sessions; preparing presentations and reports; planning, organizing, and coordinating special events; and dealing with the formulation of policies and regulations for off-campus and online doctoral programs.
Composes functional policy statements by interpreting and applying EMSE-OOCP administrative and academic policies.
Monitors the education programs by tracking the coursework and grades of each student.
Assists faculty in executing EMSE-OOCP policies. Reviews student documents, applying current policies and consulting with Director and faculty on exceptions.
Creates online student surveys and administrative forms, and coordinates their administration. Analyzes surveys and reports on trends. Develops end-of-year report.
Communicates with students in writing to answer routine and complex questions about the EMSE off-campus programs and academic policies.
Organizes and attends EMSE-OOCP advising meetings with faculty advisers and their doctoral students, both online and in person. Requests and posts faculty advising schedules, communicates them to students, and logs student attendance.
Monitors and reviews course registrations. Reviews applications for graduation and processes them through the University. Sets up Final Examinations for Ph.D. and D.Eng. candidates.
Implements procedures for administering the EMSE off-campus programs, related to marketing, coordinating logistics, and updating the website.
Coordinates admissions processes for SEAS Online & Off-Campus doctoral programs assembling application files (collecting transcripts, references, statement of purpose and resumes), sending them to the faculty committee for review, and sending admission decision letters.
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Proficient in Microsoft Office software including databases.
Self-starter with strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Strong writer and persuasive communicator with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent computer skills and willingness or experience in online course delivery.
Experience and ability to work well in a team to achieve program goals and objectives for online and face to face programs.
Able to interact effectively with a diverse population at all levels, facilitate decision making and conflict resolution, maintain a positive and constructive demeanor treating all applicants, staff, students, and faculty with professionalism, courtesy and respect.
Demonstrated success in completing professional tasks with attention to detail.
Ability to manage and provide logistical support to multiple projects.

Typical Hiring Range $47,500 - $60,200 How is pay for new employees determined at GW?
