Northwest Regional Data Center
Manage virtual infrastructure. Install, maintain, monitor and tune large enterprise scale virtual deployments including physical hardware, platform specific management tools, hypervisor, and hypervisor management tools.
Provide consultation and technical advice to customer end-users and other Open Systems staff. Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems on Cloud Infrastructure hardware and enterprise virtualization environments.
Analyze system, server, application, network and input/output device performance. Perform and test routine system backups and restores.
Deploy physical and virtual servers, encryption systems and all host security systems. Ensure integrity and security of enterprise data on host computers, databases and during data transfer.
Recommend, schedule and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations and/or purchases. Practice asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
Provide support to other members of the Open Systems support team.
Participates in an after-hours support and/or team on-call rotation in support of a 24x7 data center.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other related degree and four years of experience; or a high school diploma/equivalency and eight years of related work experience.
(Note: a combination of post high education and experience equal to eight years.)
Technical knowledge of platform operating systems including Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat Linux and VMware.
Technical knowledge of current virtualization software, tools, protocols and standards, including vCenter, VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, Microsoft VMM, Citrix Xenapp and XenServer and Red Hat Xen.
Technical knowledge of enterprise hardware platforms.
Knowledge of standard programming languages, concepts, practices, and procedures within the technology field (i.e. Powershell and PowerCLI).
Ability to gather, interpret, report, and/or edit information.
Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to convey technical information to technical and non- technical users.
Ability to work a flexible schedule to support a 24x7 data center
Working knowledge of standard network switch and routing concepts.
Working knowledge of fiber channel and iSCSI storage concepts.
This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
If not otherwise specified, schedule is M-F, 8-5.
