Scope of Job:
Responsible for the functional operations of the University Recreation department as it relates to facility staffing, scheduling, maintenance, reservations, custodial services, and risk management for the University Recreation building, aquatic facilities, and outdoor recreation fields. To serve as a member of the departmental senior leadership team and work collaboratively with the Director and Associate Director University Recreation Programs to assist in the establishment of strategic planning.

Description of Duties:
• Oversees the daily functional operations of all assigned areas, including facilitating all aquatic operations.
• Prepares regular written communications such as monthly/annual reports, financial reports, participation reports, asset and equipment inventory reports.
• Responsible for the operating, preparation, forecasting, and monitoring of income and expense budgets as it relates to the facilities and services areas.
• Coordinates the purchasing, inventorying, and maintenance of facility operation materials as needed.
• Responsible for hiring, training, evaluating, supervising and scheduling of all assigned staff.
• Develops and facilitates the departmental equipment maintenance and preventative maintenance plans via asset inventory practices.
• Assists the Director with the long-term objectives of the department and all budgetary responsibilities of the assigned areas.
• Serves as chair of the department Risk Management Committee, charged with developing policies and procedures, as well as facilitating training for the department emergency action plan.
• Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
• Coordinates vendor relationships by maintaining contract specifications and state required competitive bid processes.
• Oversees the annual maintenance and facility deep cleaning.
• Work in conjunction with the Director on capital projects and long term financial planning.
• Assists with developing and enforces policies and procedures for University Recreation facilities (court rules, facility space priorities, facility access, etc.) to include manual and publication updates.
• Creates, encourages, and supports professional development opportunities for staff, including professional association involvement, training programs, and individual mentoring of assigned staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervision Received:
General supervision from the Director of University Recreation.

Supervision Given:
Supervises assigned full and part time staff.

Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University.

Preferred Education:
Master’s Degree from an accredited University.

First Aid and CPR certified, or obtain certification within 30 days of hiring. Preferred: LGI and WSI or ability to obtain within 90 days of hiring.

Required Experience:
Five (5) years of related experience in operations, coordination and performing the stated duties in a related setting.

Preferred Experience:

Use of standard office equipment. Knowledge in fitness equipment.

Working Conditions:
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Indoor and outdoor environment; some travel and weekend work is required.

Excellent communication skills. Ability to work effectively in team environment. Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to multi-task.
