Tenure-track, continuing faculty position in Christian Formation and Practical Theology
QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree. Track record indicating potential for effective teaching and scholarship. Ongoing professional experience/scholarship expected.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach courses in Christian Formation and in such Practical Theology areas as Worship, Christian Education, Youth Ministry, or Preaching. Long known for strengths in formation, EMS now defines formation for Christian leaders as infused throughout the seminary curriculum; at the same time particular attention is given to training for leaders in Spiritual Formation and Direction in both traditional and emerging modes. Commitment must be to ministry reflecting the love of God for all, embracing the world in all its complexity with a hopeful and enquiring spirit central. Understanding of venues for expression of this faith expected to be diverse. Teaching and service in the undergraduate program of EMU’s Bible Religion and Theology Department of EMU included.
APPOINTMENT DATE: Position begins fall 2019. EMU reserves the right to fill the position at any time or keep the position open. Rank to be determined according to qualifications and experience, assistant professorship strongly preferred.
