Assistant Professor- Learning Sciences

Location: Tillman Hall

The Department of Education and Human Development in the College of Education at Clemson University seeks a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Learning Sciences with an anticipated start date of August 2019.

Consistent with the university's land grant mission, the College of Education at Clemson is dedicated to promoting the growth, education, and development of all individuals, and to engaging in high quality, applied research, and professional learning. The College of Education is focused on serving underperforming schools as well as marginalized communities. The successful candidate will join a collaborative and engaged faculty committed to fulfilling this mission through research, teaching, and service in higher educational and P-12 settings. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an active scholarly research agenda and participate in external research and grant activities. In addition, the new faculty member will be expected to develop and teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses, recruit and advise doctoral-level graduate students, actively contribute to the growth and continuous improvement of the Learning Sciences Doctoral Program, and provide service to the profession, university, and state.


Required qualifications: Earned doctorate in Learning Sciences or a related field, with an emphasis in digital media and learning. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge and research experience in any aspect of learning with digital media, emerging technologies (e.g. virtual/augmented realities, game-based learning), embodied learning, or online learning environments. Teaching experience at the P-12 and/or university levels is desirable.
