Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine (Director of Clinical Skills)

Experience Requirement: A strong background in medical education is preferred, as is experience in pre-doctoral teaching, well-developed communication skills and knowledge of physical exam skills and all aspects of clinical medicine education.
Usual Duties: Serves the Sam Houston State University Proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine, in leadership of the clinical skills course and lab. The University is seeking qualified candidates for the full-time position for Director, Clinical Skills. The position reports to the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs. The Director of Clinical Skills is responsible for the leadership and oversight of the clinical skills course, activity in the simulation lab, as well as the process for OSCE training and testing. The director will participate in the development of clinical content for systems courses and fostering collaboration and interdisciplinary learning. The director will also have the opportunity to participate in the University Practice Plan and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Laboratory. The person selected should be comfortable working in preclinical and clinical education, as well as evaluation of curriculum and students through various learning and assessment methods. The candidate should have strong clinical acumen, skills in osteopathic physical exam and knowledge of the requirements of NOBME COMLEX Level 2 - PE exam.
Degree Requirements: The successful candidate will have a DO or MD degree from an accredited college of medicine with residency training leading to board certification in their specialty, and eligibility for, or a current license to practice in Texas.
Other Requirements for the Position: Ability to communicate and work with faculty, medical students, clerkship coordinators, hospital administrators, physician preceptors and college administration. Excellent written and verbal communication. Demonstrates personal initiative and abilities to deal with a rapidly changing environment. Familiar with Learning Management Systems and reporting. Other duties as assigned. Note: This position currently reports to the Huntsville campus but will move to Conroe, TX upon completion of medical school construction.
