Job Description
The Budget Office Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire an Associate Director, Budgets to join our team. The Associate Director works with the Budget Director in providing leadership, administration and coordination for the Budget Office.

This position is primarily responsible for assisting the Budget Director in providing leadership and overall management of the University's budget, technical preparation of the operating budget and consolidation/reconciliation of the overall University budget, and providing University-wide planning analyses for use by the Budget Director, Vice Presidents and President of the University.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

* Guide and train staff in cooperation with the Director
* Review budget proposals submitted by campus community for reasonableness and accuracy
* Assure the University's state funded budget remains in balance with appropriation
* Train and support divisional budget officers
* Implement continuous improvements in budget office services, processes, and information availability
* Supervises the verification of appropriate funding for any increases to faculty and staff positions and acts as Subject Matter Expert in budget related areas of HR/Payroll and Finance components of Enterprise Information System
* Analyze and resolve institutional budget discrepancies and variances
* Support Director during legislative sessions including fiscal impact statements, fiscal notes, addressing legislative inquiries, and other state agency information requests
* Provides guidance and training to university personnel as needed to accomplish departmental responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or related field and five years of professional experience in accounting, finance or related field; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

* Texas high education experience
* Working knowledge of fund accounting
* Working knowledge of the Legislative Appropriations Request
* Ability to analyze, consolidate, and present financial data in clear concise forms to a variety of audiences

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

*Master's degree in Business Administration or related field.
*PeopleSoft experience.
