The Center for Leadership Simulation and Gaming at the University of Virginia seeks a highly organized, quality focused, energetic person to fill the position as a Center Coordinator and Writer. The Center Coordinator and Writer will help coordinate the day to day functions of the center (general administrative support / project management / event planning / publicity / content and instructional writing), assist the center director, provide editorial service, and conduct background research to help write scenarios for the games and simulations. The incumbent will serve as the point of contact for various events of the center, in particular, the annual NASPAA-Batten Student Simulation Competition.
The Center for Leadership Simulation and Gaming at the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy designs, develops and implements cutting edge simulations and experiments to advance education in leadership and public policy. Conducts rigorous leadership and public policy research using simulations and experiments. Creates a community of scholarship where faculty, researchers and students are supported in their scholarly efforts related to the methodology of simulations and experiments.
A Bachelor's Degree with at least 3 years of experience in center coordination, project management, research and/or writing is required. In lieu of a degree applicants must possess 7 years of experience. Strong administrative and project management skill skills including; office management, budgeting, and the ability to coordinate with multiple stake holders are essential. Applicants must be highly organized and have the ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities. A strong customer service orientation and the ability to take initiate is imperative. Demonstrated event planning or workshop development experience is required. Applicants must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to write for a technical and non-technical audience. The ability to conduct research and help develop content for social media, and games is required. Proficiency in Microsoft office and the ability to quickly learn new technologies is required. Preference will be given to applicants with a Master's Degree and/or more than 3 years of experience in previously listed areas. Applicants with a basic understanding of social sciences and university educational environment are highly encouraged to apply. Basic understanding of simulations or experimental methods, and exposure to public policy and quantitative analysis is preferred.
** This is a 1- year term limited position and continuation will be dependent on funding and satisfactory performance.
