Duties: This person in this role of Research Specialist for the National Referral Center of Animal Models of Human Genetic Diseases
will be responsible for all molecular biology and tissue culture performed in the lab. He/She will analyze and write reports on all molecular and tissue culture data generated in lab in addition to
quality control of all PCR diagnostics. This individual will be responsible for metabolic testing for hereditary diseases using chromatography. They will contact veterinarians regarding the results of metabolic testing. He/She will be responsible for all work necessary to create new animal models using CRISPR-Cas9 technology. They will oversee the work of technicians (3), students (up to12), and post-doctoral fellows (2).

Qualifications: PhD and 2-3 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to work independently, to effectively troubleshoot technical difficulties and work well with others. Must have ability to analyze data and contribute to manuscript and grant preparation. Must be able to work with laboratory animals. Must be able to work for long periods at the lab bench or laminar flow hood. Must be capable of moving around the laboratory and in supply rooms as needed. Must be capable of lifting boxes containing supplies, 25 lbs. or less, as needed. Most experiments require a high degree of manual dexterity. Occasional weekend/evenings required.
