Additional Information Purpose To provide collection care, monitoring and administrative support to the Department of Prints and Drawings and European paintings. Responsible for pulling and preparing artworks for study room visits, monitoring the study room and assisting with administrative tasks. Essential Functions Assist the Assistant Curator of Prints and Drawings with art handling and movement for classes, research and museum events. Monitors the study room while artwork is on view for classes or general visits. Schedules, monitors and communicates appointment procedure and study room protocol to the public. Assists in maintaining proper housing of the collection. Compiles data from the collections database for checklists associated with storage. Assists in cataloging and researching new acquisitions. Editing and writing wall labels and contributing towards special projects. Assists with other tasks as needed including maintaining office supplies, filling out purchase orders and maintaining study room visitors log. Marginal/Incidental functions Other related functions as assigned. Required qualifications Bachelor's degree in Art History. Academic focus on European Art. Paper handling expertise. Strong knowledge of printmaking techniques. One to two years of museum experience. Proficient in Altru and Embark databases. Excellent writing skills. Works well independently and collaboratively. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications More than two years of museum experience. Knowledge of Blanton paper collections. Working conditions May work around standard office conditions Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Use of manual dexterity Lifting and moving
A criminal history background check will be required for finalist(s) under consideration for this position.
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
