Additional Information Purpose Provide software development, project management and general IT staff supervision for Recreational Sports.

Essential Functions Analyze, scope, execute, deliver and support business solutions on schedule and with a high level of reliability. Prioritize and manage projects to meet established deadlines and communicate effectively and diplomatically with staff. Prepare documentation and training for new systems and procedures. Develop, upgrade and maintain web-based interfaces and systems as appropriate. Interface with sources such as mySQL and FilerMaker Pro using PHP, Javascript, JSON, jQuery, ODBC, XML, HTML5 and CSS3. Work with web-based frameworks such as the Bootstrap and content management systems such as Expression Engine and DRUPAL. Work with APIs such as Box, Google and Facebook identity tools. Develop solutions with OAuth, LDAP and REST. Develop and support mission-critical e-commerce solutions and mobile applications. Interface with payment gateway APIs. Design and maintain mobile applications using languages like Java, C++ and Swift in programming in environments such as Apple Xcode and Android Studio. Follow application approval protocol, and deploy and update apps using the platform vendors' delivery systems. Provide direct management of IT student technicians. Perform hiring, scheduling, training, mentoring/supervision. Provide daily direction, oversee their projects, provide regular feedback, address issues and make corrective adjustments when necessary. Provide end-user support to include troubleshooting, authorizing users, establishing user groups, setting up email accounts and user folders, backup profiles, Office setup, system cloning and assisting with UT EID's. Sign and approve time sheets. Serve as a contributing IT staff member by performing a variety of functions including web updates, purchasing equipment, budget tracking, and end-user support. Assist IT staff members with setting up and maintaining departmental servers and services such as Apache and RHEL. Ensure inventory is correctly logged and systems are properly checked in and out. Provide IT support for events and ensure IT systems operate appropriately for our guests. Serve as a backup to other IT staff members as necessary performing a variety of functions including web updates, purchasing equipment, budget tracking, and providing end user support. Assist the Senior IT Manger and Senior Software Developer with strategic planning for technology changes in the department. Perform research and make recommendations in accordance with department and UT ITS and ISO policies. Maintain expert knowledge of departmental business practices and processes. Serve as a contributing member of our staff. Maintain professional knowledge in the technology field and maintain expert knowledge of departmental business practices and processes. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other departments across campus. Coordinate as needed with ITS Applications and ITS Systems to ensure unfettered operation of systems and applications. Perform other tasks as assigned.

Required qualifications Bachelor's degree. Ability to apply a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of applications, programming or analysis in appropriate languages. Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines. Strong verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. One year of experience in systems analysis, design and programming. Experience with PHP, mySQL, Javascript, HTML5 and CSS. Experience using one or more of the following, or similar, technologies: JSON, jQuery, REST, OAuth, LDAP and XML. Experience using third-party APIs, such as Box, Google and Facebook identity tools. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications Direct experience related to the essential functions of the position. Understanding and appreciation of business culture, and an ability to function capably within the RecSports culture. Ability to exercise diplomacy and a high level of discretionary effort at all times. Experience programming web-based e-commerce solutions, and interfacing with payment gateways. experience is a plus. Experience with web content frameworks such as Bootstrap and Django, and languages such as PHP and Python. Experience developing mobile applications. Have a strong familiarity with modern web standards as they relate to accessibility. Experience with internal UT Austin systems. Extensive knowledge of Apple hardware and software.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
