Additional Information Purpose This temporary, training position will perform research in the principal investigators' programs regarding neural coding in the Center for Theoretical and Computational Neuroscience. Essential Functions Perform original research and support laboratory activities at the Center for Theoretical and Computational Neuroscience. Assist with extramural funding sources and maintain publishing record in high quality journals. Assist with teaching laboratory skills to undergraduate and graduate students. Marginal/Incidental functions Other related functions as assigned. Required qualifications Must have received PhD within the last three years. PhD in Computational Neuroscience, Physics, Mathematics or related fields. Two years of research experience. Proven ability to work as a member or leader of an integrated research team and to present research to peers. Preferred Qualifications Excellent computer and analytical skills, with an emphasis on dynamical systems theory, information theory, and machine learning. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
