Position Summary: MEASURE Evaluation, an international population, health, and nutrition monitoring and evaluation project, with offices at the Carolina Population Center (www.cpc.unc.edu), University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, seeks to establish a research position for a Ph.D. level Research Associate with primary responsibility for analysis of health programs and health information systems (HIS) strengthening interventions. As part of a team of technical experts, the Research Associate will participate in the planning, data management, analysis, writing, and publication of MEASURE Evaluation evaluations and research of health programs and health information strengthening (HIS) strengthening activities. The Research Associate will have experience with population-based and facility-based survey data; a strong quantitative background; strong STATA programming skills; experience with programming computer assisted interviewing (CAI) programs; experience analyzing data and interpreting results; and experience writing reports and other documents for a range of audiences. The position will be housed in the Evaluation Unit in Chapel Hill, NC.Willingness to travel internationally approximately 20% time (required).

Education Requirements: Ph.D. in Economics, Sociology, Public Health, or a related discipline is required.

Qualification and Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional experience working in the field of international health development (strongly preferred); Experience working in lower- or middle-income country(ries) (required); Thorough understanding of the determinants of health outcomes and the individual-level decision processes related to these outcomes (preferred); Thorough understanding of monitoring and evaluation and HIS (preferred); Demonstrated skills in quantitative methods of data analysis (required); Demonstrated skills using statistical software, specifically STATA (required); Demonstrated skills in computer assisted interviewing (CAI) programs using CSPro, ODK, Qualtrics, and/or other software; Strong writing and communication skills (required); Strong interpersonal skills, including demonstrated leadership and the ability to work effectively with others (strongly preferred); Fluency in English (required).
