Professional Research Assistant

The University of Colorado Denver seeks a PRA to work in the Head and Neck Cancer Research Program in the Department of Pathology at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. Job Responsibilities:

This is a full time position in a cancer research laboratory. The lab has ongoing research in the following areas: the role of TGF in carcinogenesis, the function of Smads in head and neck cancer and skin cancer, the function of Smads in skin development, the role of TGF signaling in wound healing, and the pathological functions of TGF in inflammatory skin disorders Duties will include tissue culture, treatment and extraction of protein from cultured cells and whole tissues, FLOW cytometry, SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, extraction of RNA and/or DNA from cells and mouse tissues, managing transgenic mouse colonies (including general care, breeding and genotyping), agarose gel electrophoresis of DNA, general assistance with various laboratory experiments and laboratory maintenance. Applicant should work well in a group and be proficient with computers.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

BA/BS degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related field, and experience working with mice. Applicants must be willing and interested in acquiring new technical skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Applicants with knowledge of head and neck cancer-related research techniques, current cancer immunotherapies, experience with mouse models, and familiarity with UCD AMC systems will be given special consideration.
