Research Associate - Post-doc

Position Summary

A Post-Doctoral Research Associate position is available in chloroplast biochemistry at Michigan State University in the laboratory of Dr. Peter Lundquist. We are looking for a candidate to study the recruitment and function of proteins localized to the plastoglobule, a lipid-protein particle of chloroplasts and other plastid sub-types.

Plastoglobules are highly relevant to plant stress responses and play an active role in thylakoid membrane remodeling and numerous lipid metabolic pathways. While it has been suggested that there is a core proteome of about 30 proteins localized to the plastoglobule, evidence indicates additional proteins are selectively recruited to the plastoglobule under specific conditions. The incumbent will utilize protein expression, affinity-purifications (e.g. co-IP and pull-downs), proteomics, and sub-organellar fractionation to identify determinants of plastoglobule protein targeting. Candidates with experience in plant molecular biology and biochemistry are strongly encouraged to apply.

The position will be initially for an appointment of one-year, renewable annually, contingent upon performance and availability of funding.
