Research Associate-Fixed Term
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in the Howe lab, located in the MSU-DOE Plant Research Laboratory at Michigan State University. We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to investigate fundamental processes that mediate plant responses to environmental stress. Specifically, the position will focus on understanding the molecular mechanisms by which the plant hormone jasmonate balances growth and defense responses. Both Arabidopsis and tomato will be used as experimental model systems to study the effects of insect herbivory and other types of biotic stress on plant growth, using a wide range of biochemical, molecular, and genetic approaches. The successful candidate is expected to conduct research as part of a larger team, supervise undergraduate and graduate student assistants, and communicate the results of their research at scientific meetings and preparation of manuscripts.
The position is initially for one year with the possibility of an extension. The start date for the position is January, 2019.Required Degree

- Applicants must have experience in plant molecular biology and evidence of research productivity as determined by their publication record.
- Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in plant biology or closely related field by the time the appointment is made.
Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience in plant cell and molecular biology techniques, including confocal microscopy, RNA sequencing, proteomics and genetic analysis in the model plant Arabidopsis.Required Application Materials
