Minimum Education/Experience: MD (or equivalent) or PhD with expertise in higher education. Seven years' experience on the faculty or in administration at a school of medicine accredited to grant the doctor of medicine degree or at a school of osteopathic medicine accredited to grant the doctor of osteopathic medicine degree. Experience in teaching or administration of programs subject to LCME accreditation.

Job Duties: The Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (SADAA) provides management, coordination, and leadership to ensure excellence in all areas related to the school's undergraduate medical education and student programs. The SADAA provides administrative support for faculty to create a living curriculum responsive to the needs of medical students in the modern age of medicine and maintains a focus on the School's mission. The SADA is responsible for working across departments in the School to ensure all standards for accreditation, federal and state educational compliance and program licensure and certification dealing with medical student education are in place. Duties include: Participate in the senior leadership team for the School. Provide the principal operational leadership for medical student education. Oversee the formal academic program and curricular design for medical student education, including the development, publication, and distribution of supporting materials such as schedules and course catalogs. Assure maintenance of compliance with LCME accreditation standards. Coordinate LCME accreditation activities, including preparation of the self-study and survey team visit. Coordinate the School's involvement in and responses to SACS accreditation activities. Assure faculty are appropriately engaged in curricular design, and that curricular changes reflect or establish best practices, are aligned with BSOM mission, are supported by faculty and incorporate evaluation of quality and outcomes. Oversee compliance of programs with applicable legal, regulatory, policy, and accreditation standards. Engage with external bodies to advance medical education. Monitor national trends in medical education and organize and launch initiatives to improve education. Oversee the delivery of student services. Respond to local and national requests for information and documentation of the School's educational program and ensure that these responses reflect the mission, quality, and innovation of the School's programs. Represent the School to external constituencies as appropriate. Develop, supervise, and evaluate interdisciplinary programs. Direct the development and accreditation (if applicable) of new combined degree programs. Manage and supervise all associate and assistant deans, faculty, and staff within the office of Academic Affairs, including participation in annual review and goal setting processes. Oversee the process of review of and response to complaints and grievances involving Academic Affairs. Represent Academic Affairs at meetings of the BSOM Executive Committee, the Brody Council, and other meetings as appropriate. Provide oversight of performance against budget for the office of Academic Affairs, including oversight of the budget process, achieving goals within budget constraints, and tracking financial performance. Ensure that Academic Affairs initiatives reflect the priorities of both the School and the University. Attend meetings and represent the School at internal and external meetings as requested by the Dean. Perform other tasks or lead other projects as requested by the Dean.
