Advertised Job Summary: USCA seeks a Coordinator of Academic Advisement to oversee all aspects of academic advising. Reporting to the Director of the Library and Center for Student Achievement, the Coordinator of Academic Advising will train faculty and staff advisors to provide individual and group academic, career, and personal counseling to students in a manner that demonstrates commitment to the USCA mission and its diverse student population. The Coordinator will empower students in their ability to explore their educational opportunities, set and establish goals and achieve academic success through a comprehensive, student centered approach. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, assigning advisors to students upon entry to the University and as needed thereafter, coordinating the process of students changing majors, creating and maintaining academic advising manual; developing a program for undeclared majors, maintaining a current, and relevant knowledge of academic advising innovations and best practices; creating, coordinating, and leading training of new and current academic advisors. The successful candidate will also be involved in the campus community participating on committees where appropriate. Minimum requirements are a Master's degree in Student Services or related field, or a Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience. Experience in academic programming is also required. All qualified applicants must possess excellent oral, written, and organization skills; work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff; and work in a team environment and individually. Familiarity with software systems such as Banner, DegreeWorks, and TutorTrac preferred. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. USCA is an AA/EOE.
Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions): Master's degree in Student Services or related field, or bachelor's degree and 2 years related experience. Experience in academic advising and programming.
