Associate Director, Multimedia Producer

Job Description Summary

The Associate Director, Multimedia Producer is responsible for conceptualizing, planning, and executing a range of photography and multimedia projects (videos, audio/podcasts, webinars, slideshows, etc.) that tell distinctive stories highlighting the achievements of faculty, students, alumni and staff that directly support Marketing and Communication initiatives for external audiences. S/he is a highly collaborative, creative strategic thought partner who reports to the Creative Director on projects ranging from Tier 1 (highly produced pieces often handled by outside resources in support of major initiatives, campaigns, events, etc.), Tier 2 (video, graphics and soundtrack edited and produced internally), and Tier 3 (quick turnaround, photos and videos for social channels, podcasts, news, various print publications, etc.). Help lead Bentley to be on the forefront of new technologies and platforms such as virtual reality and augmented reality.

Essential Duties


Pre-Production (25%)

  • Create and execute project plan to meet agreed-upon communication objectives, deadlines and budgets
  • Assist in planning and scheduling of outside resources such as freelancers or agencies
  • Location scouting and develop shooting schedules and prop list
  • Manage overall photography budget (including freelancer and external partners)
  • Develop storyboards (when needed) and contribute to art direction
Shooting Photography and Video (20%)
  • Direct and shoot headshot and location still and “interview style” video
  • Additional magazine images as needed
  • Managing and directing freelance support
Editing/Post-Production (30%)
  • Edit new and existing footage to create cohesive storytelling
  • Add graphics and audio tracks
  • Edit longer videos into various lengths to extend and broaden usage
Asset Management (15%)
  • Maintain photography assets in Bentley's digital asset management platform (WebDAM)
  • Develop and manage tagging and meta-data efforts
  • Establish and maintain a digital video archive, searching for and providing footage, b-roll in appropriate format upon request
  • Assist the Social Media Manager Manage administer the institutional YouTube channel, organizing and curating content to drive engagement
Training and Collaboration (10%)
  • In partnership with Communications Director, expand capacity by training students and staff to support video storytelling
  • Provide guidance and support for various software platforms to empower Communications team to create video content

Additional Responsibilities
  • Maintain photo, video and lighting equipment inventory
  • In collaboration with Creative Director, develop a multimedia style guide to ensure consistent production format across vendors that informs a “family” of assets
  • Work with Director of Digital Marketing to ensure multimedia content is optimized and establish measurement criteria to assess the impact of multimedia content in driving traffic
  • Collaborate with Communications team to strategize future needs and recommend resources when needed
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree plus 3-5 years experience producing and editing digital content for use across online and offline channels
  • Extensive experience with Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite, and Final Cut Pro and/or iMovie or similar and After Effects
  • Creative and technical proficiency in field and on-set production techniques (lighting, camera operation, sound recording)
  • Micro-video production and publishing experience via Instagram and Vine
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments while under tight deadline
  • Ability to travel and work outside of normal business hours for both on and off campus shoots as required
  • Understanding of copyright laws and issues
  • Ability to apply SEO metadata to support storage and retrieval of digital content
  • Quick and eager learner, particularly when it comes to camera technology and social media trends
  • Strong collaboration skills and experience partnering with clients and/or colleagues from concept to production
  • Reel or portfolio of previous work
  • Graphic/web design, photography, and/or motion graphics editing experience a plus
Physical Demands
  • Accuracy and speed are essential in written and verbal communications, data assessment and utilization, and on campus client and external constituent and vendor relations.
