Primary Function of Organization Unit: The organization's primary function is to assist faculty and staff in the design of instruction, best practices of using academic technologies and assessments/evaluations of educational activities including course/instructor evaluations and exam services.
Essential Job Duties: The Instructional Support Specialist position provides front-facing, immediate instructional and academic technology support for faculty, staff, and students in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM). The person in this position will use CVM-supported instructional technologies to create and manage instructional resources in both online and face-to-face learning environments. This person will collaborate with instructional designer(s) and CVM faculty to develop resources such as static learning content, interactive instructional modules, multimedia, and/or other resources as appropriate. This person will contribute to various projects related to instruction and instructional technology support. This person will act as first-level support for faculty and students who have questions or problems related to CVM's academic technologies. Responsibilities include managing course content preparation and learning management technology assistance; administering exam services with online exam technology (ExamSoft); providing workshops on academic technologies; and supporting and communicating with CVM faculty and students about academic technologies.
Department Required Skills: - Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite - Experience in creating interactive content in Storyline, Captivate, Camtasia, or similar product. - Experience supporting academic technologies such as learning management systems, online testing, student engagement platforms, etc. - Professional-level verbal and written communication skills. - Highly dependable. - Team-oriented. - Able to keep confidential/private student information secure.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: - Bachelor's degree preferred. - Experience working in an educational setting, especially in the veterinary medicine field. - Familiarity with instructional design processes, especially in the field of veterinary medicine. - Experience working with on-line learning management systems (Moodle), online exam system (ExamSoft), veterinary clinical skill tracking system (One45) and syllabus building applications. - Familiarity working with a service ticketing system (ServiceNow) to communicate with clients. - Proficiency in creating interactive content in Storyline, Captivate, Camtasia, or similar product.
