Job Summary:

The Research Specialist provides technical and administrative support for a research project. Performs research experiments in a pulmonary research lab focusing on the development of basic research in particulate matter air pollution.


  • Perform lab techniques such as ELISA, DNA/RNA isolation, RNAi technology, qRT-PCR, western blot analysis, flow cytometry, and tissue culture.
  • Perform in vivo experiments using mouse models of air pollution exposure. Isolate primary alveolar macrophages from mice.
  • Maintain complete and accurate experimental records.
  • Collect and analyze data. Record accurate data into computer database. Summarize results and assist in interpreting procedural and theoretical finds.
  • Maintain laboratory organization, order supplies, keep equipment in working order, other general lab duties.

  • Knowledge in relevant scientific field required.
  • Knowledge of research techniques or methods required.
  • Knowledge of regulatory policies and procedures required.
  • Analytical skills required.
  • Problem-solving skills required.
  • Attention to detail required

Additional Requirements

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • One year of research experience or relevant experience preferred.
  • Experience with ELISA, qRT-PCR, and cell culture preferred.
  • Basic lab skills including pipetting, buffer/reagents preparation, etc., preferred.
