Graduation Planning & Strategies Office (GPS)
Responsible for the coordination of programming, administrative, and operational activities for the advising of high credit hour students and students with special circumstances.
Assists in establishing and implementing programs, policies and procedures that affect timely graduation and encourage students to maximize available options for degree completion.Manages and designs interventions for students while providing intensive advising and degree planning assistance to facilitate timely degree completion consulting with colleges and departments to develop appropriate graduation plans. Monitors academic progress of assigned students and conducts targeted outreach campaigns.
Provides support for the promotion and recruitment of FSU undergraduate students to graduate programs. Coordinates with academic departments and student support offices to deliver policies and procedures for program participation. Compiles and reports data measuring and analyzing results to refine and improve the Graduation Support advising model for optimal performance.
Assists in developing and maintaining partnerships throughout the University in order to attain departmental goals and objectives. Serves as liaison between Graduation Support advising and the FSU community. Provides support with special projects, research, and other assignments.
A Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience or a combination of post high school education and relevant experience equal to eight years. (Note: a higher level of education may substitute for experience at the comparable rate)
Computer skills to include experience with Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications. Ability to interpret and explain policies to students, parents, faculty and staff. Knowledge of principles and practices of academic program planning, development, and evaluation. Ability to extract complex academic information from various sources and maintain confidentiality. Must have the unique ability to deal with people in a calm, confident manner and with complete objectivity. Attention to detail and the highest standard of integrity are imperative. Position requires a high level of discretion and knowledge of legal issues in relation to confidentiality of data.
Master's degree is preferred and two years of relevant experience in an academic setting with academic advising experience; knowledge of BOT and University rules and regulations.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, supervisors, and interdepartmental personnel.
This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
If not otherwise specified, schedule is M-F, 8-5.
