Engineer Technician Senior
The Center for Applied Energy Research is currently seeking an Engineer Technician Senior for our Carbon Materials Group. This position will join one of the University of Kentucky's multidisciplinary research centers, which investigates energy technologies to improve the environment and contributes to technically sound policies related to coal, energy and the environment. This position will be involved in design, construction, assembly, installation, operation, calibration, testing, modification, and maintenance of equipment and analytical apparatus. This position will also be responsible for calibration of equipment and analytical apparatuses, safe and effective operation of equipment and analytical apparatuses, troubleshooting, procuring materials and supplies and maintaining records. This position will use tools and equipment requiring specialized knowledge and skills such as understanding electrical schematics, flow sheets, and technical manuals.
The Carbon Materials group focuses on developing viable technologies for producing high value carbon materials from Kentucky's fossil resources. The group's scope includes spinning polymers into precursors, followed by conversion to carbon fiber, the synthesis and applications of carbon nanotubes, and polymer processing, as well as the more traditional activated carbons.
