Reporting to the Manager of Strategic Analytics, this position supports activities relating to Supply Chain Analytics for all sections of Supply Chain operations of the University of Miami. The Strategic Analyst assists the Manager with assigned analytics for those supply chain measurements related to business decisions, spend tracking, and materials management improvements. The Strategic Analyst serves an active role in the development of Value Analysis projects and serves on the Value Analysis teams as appropriate. The Strategic Analyst also supports and works directly with Supply Chain Strategic Sourcing in the analysis of bids and other sourcing activities. Under the direction of the Manager also has as a supporting function and responsibility with the measurement, and reporting of any and all bids/offers requested by Strategic Sourcing. The Strategic Analyst also supports and works with Supply Chain Logistics as assigned in the measurement of Supply Chain activities and requirements related to Supply Chain Logistics as it relates to those activities of product introduction, replenishment, and distribution.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (For Non-exempt Employees Include Percent of Effort):

  • Works with Supply Chain departments to identify areas of opportunity whether related to savings or product utilization.
  • Assists with the building of complex data models to create frameworks to better understand business drivers, including Product Mix, Utilization Patterns, Contract Penetration, Rebate Assessment, Supplier Market Share, Price Discovery, Benchmark Comparison, GPO Effectiveness, Submitted Bids and Results Reporting.
  • Provides Supply Chain Management analytics, data, and other related reports on a routine basis for University of Miami under the guidance and direction of the Manager.
  • Provides analytics to support the Supply Chain Pipeline, Landed Savings Report inclusive of Run-Rate Computation, Missed Opportunity Reporting, and Inventory Valuation Computation and Reporting to provide and generate statistics.
  • Supports the operation of the Supply Chain Management Portal, U-VAC Portal, ePAR Portal, and other special SharePoint sites as needed.
  • Complete all assigned deliverables on time
  • Maintains operational knowledge of Supply Chain operations.
  • Demonstrates flexibility, professionalism, and current awareness of and developments in the supply chain. Possesses ability to prioritize, follow through and maintain self-direction.

    Maintains up-to-date knowledge in all aspects of Purchasing & Materials Management.

    Promotes a positive and safe work environment by maintaining good relations with management personnel, peers, and hospital staff, by attending department meetings; by supporting the hospital and its goals, policies, and management decisions; by adhering to the hospital dress code; by maintaining an awareness of hospital infection control, body mechanics and safety policies; by rectification in safety on an annual basis; and by maintaining confidentiality regarding work related matters, identifying and reporting barriers to departmental effectiveness, recommending constructive problem solving methods, managing time, demonstrating flexibility in work assignments, and actively participates as a team member.

    Participate on various committees and/or task groups as required.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Demonstrated aptitude in managing multiple/simultaneous projects.

    • Strong analytical and organizational skills.

    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

    • Ability to interact with all levels of University and Hospital management, physicians and other clinical staff, as well as with others outside the University.

    Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):

    Bachelor’s degree required in healthcare, business administration.

    Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):

    • Three (3) years of progressively responsible work experience in supply chain, healthcare, or management setting.

    • Advanced knowledge of data gathering tools, i.e. SAP Business Objects, SQL, ARIBA, and others.

    • Familiarity with financial analysis, ROI, general economic practices and healthcare trends required.

    • Requires strong interpersonal, team, leadership and facilitation skills.

    • Proactive, outgoing and can work collaboratively with cross-capability team members

    Patient safety is a top priority. As a result, during the Influenza ("the flu") season (September through April), the University of Miami School of Medicine requires all employees who provide ongoing services to patients, work in a location (all Hospitals and clinics) where patient care is provided, or work in patient care or clinical care areas, to have an annual influenza vaccination. Failure to meet this requirement will result in rescinding or termination of employment.
