Job Description
The primary purpose of this postdoctoral position is to perform research with Dr. Alaa Sheta on various projects with a focus on completing a research work in the area of machine learning (i.e. genetic algorithms, genetic programming, others), deep learning, computer vision, pattern recognition, image processing and robotics applications.

  • Conduct research.
  • Write research grants.
  • Analyze data.
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Doctoral Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or similar field by the time of the appointment.
  • Knowledge of modern data analytics tools and methods on artificial intelligence and machine learning especially in the area of pattern recognition and computer vision.
  • Strong programming skills in C++/Python/Matlab.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong research writing and communication skills
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods
  • A record of publication in the above described area of research.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years of experience in software development in C++/Python/Matlab.
  • Experience with software tools such as Tensor Flow, Caffe or other deep learning tools.
  • Background/experience and/or interest in agricultural/medical domains.
  • Experience with software tools for Robotics.
