Assistant Director, International Programs

Responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating international program opportunities for USA students in conjunction with campus partners; manages all aspects of the student study abroad process from recruitment to returned student programming and assessment; develops and implements a marketing and recruitment strategy for study abroad to include annual branding, marketing materials, public relations stories and web content; organizes, oversees and executes three annual Study Abroad Fairs, International Education Week, community and campus events, weekly information tables and classroom presentations; establishes and adheres to program advisement protocol; advises prospective, current and returned study abroad students; supervises and evaluates advisement by other OIE staff and International Ambassadors; selects, trains and supervises the International Education Ambassador Internship team; develops and implements returned study abroad student programming; responsible for the development and management of the student application process including the creation and review of application materials in StudioAbroad and the acceptance and registration of students; acts as liaison between OIE and the Registrar, Financial Aid and Scholarship Offices; manages the credit transfer process for returned study abroad students; establishes protocol and procedures for awarding scholarships such as the Gilman and Boren; oversees the Generation Study Abroad and Diversity Abroad initiatives; oversees the collection and reporting of study abroad statistics annually to IIL Open Doors; develops and maintains affiliate agreements and partnerships; in conjunction with the Director, responsible for program development and oversight including: assessing and reviewing faculty-led proposals, as well as working with faculty to create program objectives, frameworks, budgets and itineraries; develops and maintains all aspects of International Exchange programs for incoming and outgoing students; develops and implements the incoming international exchange student process including arrival, registration, billing, credit transfer and student programming; develops and leads pre-departure orientations, returned student programming; assists with the development and implementation of risk management policies and procedures and faculty-led preparation sessions; reviews and updates policies and procedures as needed; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required; related duties as required.


Master's degree in a related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and three years of directly related professional experience. Experience living, studying or working abroad is preferred.
