Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Monitors the origination and processing of loan awards. Monitors loan disbursements, loan returns, and loan reconciliations with the Department of Education. Monitors transfer monitoring on the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) and sends out notification of loan disbursements. Assists in summer rewarding.
  • Processes deferments. Assists with monitoring Financial Literacy at the university and provides workshops to students and the community. Monitors delinquent students as part of Default Aversion Assistance.
  • Assists the offices within Enrollment Management and Student Business Services by providing information and working closely regarding the financial aid process. Assists in coordinating and overseeing the records management of student aid documents and ensures proper filing, maintenance, and disposal of records according to regulations.
  • Guides, directs, answers questions, and resolves problems of students seeking financial aid. Promotes scholarship awareness.
  • Provides entrance and exit counseling each semester.
  • May be required to train student workers.
  • Perform reconciliation between federal and state databases, university financial systems and student information system (Banner). Track multiple fund accounts for reconciliation of scholarships
  • Perform reports for federal and state agencies (FISAP, IPEDS, FADS, TEXAS Grant End of the Year Report, Texas Work Study End of Year Report, etc.)
  • Ensure federal aid originations and disbursements are reported to the U.S. Department of Education databases in an accurately and timely manner to meet federal compliance regulations. Resolve disbursement problems.
  • Research and prepare information to aid systems analyst in preparing specifications for federal and state financial reports
  • Develop complex, non-standard financial reports and statements requiring interpretation and difficult analysis.
  • Maintain and verify accuracy of financial database for financial aid cancellations, adjustments, and others. Identify and resolve over awards and over payments. Resolve federal Pell payment problems.
  • Identify potential problems and take actions to correct
  • Read and interpret laws, regulations and policies, and procedures for compliance.
  • Determine loan eligibility. Advise and counsel students on loan debt and loan repayment procedures.
  • Develop and update operating procedures.
  • Analyze accuracy of data transmissions Compile statistical data used to evaluate trends

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field and two years of related experience.


KSAs
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Verbal and written communication skills.
