Facilities Management has an opening for a full time University Staff (unclassified) Accountant I position.
Jobs in this career family provide the accounting and financial activities for the University. Functions include general accounting, budget, financial analysis and audit, tax and reporting, accounts payable and receivables, government cost reimbursement, contract administration, cashiering, cash management/ banking, investments, treasury and travel audit.
Professionals at the entry level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.
At the entry level, duties are limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals and are performed in a training and development capacity.
This position provides financial analysis and business operations support for Auxiliary and General Fund operations within the Facilities Management department. Responsibility for additional funds may be included as necessary. Areas supported may include: Parking and Transportation Services, Grounds, Roads, Bookstore, Building Department, the Event Management System, Fleet Management and Inventorying and surveying the space occupied by the Facilities. This position will act as back-up for other accountants in the department as needed.
Examples of Work Performed:
This position provides reporting, analysis, procurement and accounting operational support for the financial management and budgeting of the Building Maintenance and Operations, Construction Services, Mail Center, Postal Unit, Finance and Administration and other areas as needed. The duties include, but are not limited to: processing payments, creating and managing purchasing requisitions, processing journal entries, preparing monthly reports, analyzing data, assisting with budget development and cost study for auxiliary units, creating payroll expense transfers, assisting with monthly uploads from Maximo to PeopleSoft and acts as a back-up for other accountants in the department.

Salary and Benefits:
The hiring salary for this position is $41,866 - $48,000 and is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for overtime compensation.

What we require:
- A bachelor's degree in business administration, business, finance, accounting, or a directly related field from an accredited institution
- Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis
What we'd like you to have:
- 1 year of professional accounting experience
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Excel to develop, revise, and maintain spreadsheets and databases for reporting and tracking purposes for all core activities
- Experience with University of Colorado reporting, finance, procurement, invoicing and billing systems

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
