Instructor- Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, a top-ranked public engineering program, in the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Colorado Boulder, invites applications for a full-time instructor position. CU Boulder is a dynamic community of scholars and learners situated on one of the most spectacular college campuses in the country. As one of 34 U.S. public institutions belonging to the prestigious Association of American Universities- and the only member in the Rocky Mountain region- CU Boulder has a proud tradition of academic excellence. The successful candidate will likely be appointed as an Instructor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering although appointment as a Senior Instructor is possible depending on experience and qualifications. This is a non-tenure track appointment and will report to the Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The position involves teaching 5 engineering courses per academic year on the CU Boulder campus beginning in Fall 2018.

Qualifications


Candidates must have a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely-related field, and must demonstrate a strong commitment to high-quality undergraduate engineering education and active engagement in the mechanical engineering field. An interest in improving undergraduate engineering education is desirable as well as committing to the educational mission of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Teaching experience with manufacturing and/or machine design is preferred. The successful applicant would have demonstrated strong teaching ability as the instructor of record for one or more courses, and will be able to teach both lecture and lab-based courses. Salary is competitive and commensurate with skills and experience.
