Job Summary:

Starting pay is based on experience, with a minimum starting rate of $16.67/hour.

Function as the Undergraduate and Graduate Program Coordinator and Timetable and Registration Representative for the Department of Astronomy at UW-Madison. Responsible for administration and implementation of undergraduate and graduate program activities, policies, and procedures from admission to graduation. Advises faculty and students on undergraduate and graduate program requirements. Interprets rules and regulations of the department, UW, and the Graduate School; evaluates transcripts, determines eligibility of international students and students with non-standard applications, and monitors progress of all Ph.D. candidates. This position requires an individual who can exercise considerable initiative, independent judgment, and discretion in order to communicate effectively on numerous complex university requirements and procedures to current and prospective students, Department visitors, and faculty. Strong computer skills as well as a working knowledge of SIS, DARS, spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and the Internet are required. Duties are performed under general supervision. This position reports directly to the Administrative Program Specialist.
