The International Studies Office (ISO) is currently seeking applications for a Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and Technical Coordinator. The ISO, a division of UVA Global, is a University-wide resource which contributes to UVA's global mission through activities, programs and services designed to support the development of a globally aware, culturally diverse education and research environment. Through the International Students and Scholars Program, UVA Education Abroad, and the Lorna Sundberg International Center, the ISO provides expertise and infrastructure to help expand and sustain global education at the University of Virginia. The ISO is also home to the CORE (Cultural Orientation, Reflection, and Engagement) Program and the Peace Corps Prep Program.
The SEVIS and Technical Coordinator oversees the full range of Student and Exchange Visitor SEVIS-related tasks that ensure data integrity and institutional and individual compliance with the federal regulations governing international students and scholars in the U.S. The position also assumes the responsibilities of a DHS Designated School Official (DSO) and a DSO Alternate Responsible Office (ARO).
A Bachelor's Degree in a related field and three years of experience in advising international students and scholars in an academic setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
Candidates must posses the ability working with information systems (such as Sunapsis, Banner, PeopleSoft and/or Terra Dotta) in a higher education or similar setting. Exceptional computer and data analysis skills, including working with database software programs are required as are strong organizational and analytical skills, including the ability to identify problems and propose solutions. Candidates must also possess the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement. Ability to prioritize, problem solve and work well under pressure and maintain related work experience with data management and analysis, as well as compliance with regulatory activities. Candidates must also be a Permanent Resident or US Citizen as required by law to be a DSO or ARO.
