Florida State University Panama City (FSU PC) offers a Bachelor's Degree program in Hospitality and Tourism Management housed under FSU's nationally recognized Dedman School of Hospitality. The Hospitality program at FSU PC provides student's coursework, job-shadowing, study abroad, and internship experiences to prepare them for careers as managers and leaders in hotels, restaurants, clubs, and resorts. In addition, FSU PC offers a related undergraduate program in Recreation, Tourism, and Events (RTE) through the College of Applied Studies, which emphasizes planning and managing recreation programs, special events, and leisure services for resorts, businesses, and public and private recreation agencies.
We invite applications for a 9- or 12- month, full-time, specialized, non-tenure track teaching faculty position with opportunities for promotion and multi-year contracts at our FSU Campus in Panama City, Florida. We anticipate that this position with our Hospitality Management program will also have some engagement with our RTE undergraduate program.
Primary responsibilities include teaching a variety of undergraduate courses in the Hospitality Management program (e.g., food/beverage management, leadership, revenue management, etc.) and RTE program (e.g., research, program design, activities leadership, etc.).
This position also includes recruiting and mentoring students, as well as engaging in service to the department and campus. Additionally, this position has the potential for administrative and leadership opportunities, including serving as a coordinator for the program, working with local and national industry leaders, overseeing and developing internships, developing new curricula, and leading new program initiatives.
The position is being advertised as an open-rank position (depending upon candidate qualifications), and specific responsibilities for teaching and service (including teaching load) will depend upon the candidate's previous experiences and the needs of the Hospitality and RTE programs.
This position begins in Fall of 2019 with the potential to start earlier (i.e., Spring or Summer 2019) if circumstances warrant it.

PhD in Hospitality, or related field, from an accredited institution (must be conferred by start date of the position) and at least one year of experience teaching at the university level.
Additional preferred qualifications include: managerial experience in the Hospitality or Tourism Industry, ability to be an effective leader for managing projects and new initiatives, experience or previous education in both Hospitality and Recreation industries, and academic administrative experience.
The Panama City campus of FSU is located 100 miles west of Tallahassee on the beautiful St. Andrews Bay and is only three miles from the sparkling waters of the Gulf of Mexico. FSU Panama City currently houses 19 bachelor's programs and 8 master's programs and boasts a small faculty-to-student ratio, which gives students a more personalized academic experience.
