Job Summary:

The Department of Biology at the University of San Francisco invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in the field of molecular cell biology to begin August 2019. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in any area of microbiology and who use molecular techniques in their work.

Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be dedicated to excellence in teaching and will be expected to teach General Biology or Cell Physiology to lower division students, General Microbiology to upper division students, and other upper division courses in their specific area of expertise (e.g., virology, cell biology). The candidate should be committed to developing an independent research program involving undergraduates and Master’s students, and to seeking extramural funding for their research. A variety of resources are available for research, including a tissue culture lab, confocal microscope, and scanning electron microscope. A strong record of teaching at the university level and an understanding of and commitment to support the mission of the University of San Francisco are required.

Minimum Requirements:

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Biology or a related discipline, teaching experience, post-doctoral experience, and a research program that supports undergraduate research and is feasible for a small liberal arts school.
