Assistant Professor of Kinesiology
Coe College seeks qualified applicants for a full-time tenure-track appointment in Kinesiology. Courses taught will likely include Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology and a course in their research specialty as well as teaching departmental introductory courses. Occasionally, the successful candidate will also teach a first year seminar course in their area of interest. A Ph.D. in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or a related field is desired. Candidates who can provide evidence of successful teaching, an active program of research adaptable to student-faculty collaboration, and an interest in mentoring undergraduate students will be strongly preferred. Candidates interested in developing a rigorous track for students interested in graduate programs are preferred. A commitment to a student-centered approach to teaching and a multicultural perspective in teaching, research, and practice is required. Candidates must be at least ABD to be considered.
Coe’s Kinesiology department includes 3 full-time faculty. The department has one of the largest number of graduating majors at the college. We have a commitment to provide a quality education for those students who choose to specialize in Physical Education teaching, Fitness Development, Strength and Conditioning, and/or Health and Wellness. Students can also choose a Business Administration- emphasis in Sports Management.
Coe College faculty actively engage in teaching, scholarship, and service. Faculty are expected to teach three courses each semester, with the possibility of teaching during the May term. Due to the rigor of the teaching load, Kinesiology faculty typically fulfill research expectations during the summer months. Service to the College and surrounding communities takes place on an ongoing basis. Applications should provide strong evidence of ongoing professional development.
